Welcome to SEED, a day camp where kids explore their own roots in Central Virginia's ecosystem.
SEED campers (rising grades 1-6) from more than 20 public & independent schools in the area spend summer days gardening, cooking and getting up close and personal with local soil and streams, fields and forests. With crafts, outdoor games, and weekly field trips to nearby natural areas and watering holes, each day offers a variety of adventures!
Sprout (age 3 - rising K) campers see the vivid colors of produce ripening in the garden, discovering new tastes and fragrances while picking and preparing fresh veggies. They listen carefully for the sounds of birds and insects. They discover the joy of getting their hands dirty and getting to know animals at their own pace. In their own specially prepared classroom and around campus, Sprout campers will explore topics in zoology, botany, art and geography. Counselors offer the gentle guidance that comes from years of experience being with young children in the outdoors. Sprout camp is offered in 2-week sessions.
Outreach to a wide variety of families is a priority for Mountaintop Montessori. We have camp scholarships available for families who demonstrate need. If you are interested in information about scholarships, please contact us as soon as possible, as funds are most available early in the camp registration period. Contact Becky Harris, Director of Business Operations, for further information about the scholarship process. Please share this information with families you know that may be interested.
For summer programs, families can enroll campers in programs on a weekly basis. Feel free to enroll your child in more than one of our camp options, which are listed by week on the registration form. Keep in mind that some weeks of camp fill quickly, so early registration is the best way to ensure you have a space. Also, many campers benefit from attending for more than one week as it allows them to get to know the guides and other campers better.
